At least one person was taken by ambulance to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision on High Street in Belfast around noon time.

The accident occurred at about 12 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, and involved a Ford Explorer and a Nissan Altima in the area between the intersection of Main Street and Darby's Restaurant. The Altima appeared to have sustained significant damage to the rear portion of the vehicle on the driver's side.

Officer Mike Rolerson said Anne Dolbashian, 78, of Northport, was attempting to back out of a parking space in her Nissan Altima on High Street when her foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas. Her vehicle struck the Ford Explorer, driven by Sharon Cash, 49, of Belfast.

Rolerson said Cash was transported to Waldo County General Hospital after complaining of pain.

No charges will be filed, Rolerson said. He estimated there was about $3,000 damage worth of damage done to both vehicles.

Belfast Police, Fire and Ambulance responded to the collision.

Traffic was detoured around the scene of the crash for about a half hour.

Eastside Garage towed the Ford Explorer from the scene.
