It was a stellar campaign for the Belfast Area High School junior varsity football team this fall.

Led by coach Rob Powell, the Lions sported a 5-2 record and showed that the varsity squad, which also split two regional playoff games, should have plenty to look forward to in the coming seasons.

Team members included Brandon Waterman, Jon Galgano, Rich Priest, Tyler Stickney, Drew Nealey, Emery Dinsmore, Tristan Roberts, Nolan Woods, Tyler McLeod, Brandon Ray, Hayden Sheldon, Dillon Colby, Tyler Laplante, Derrick Tyler, Caleb Hilt, Rory Ambrose, Adam Powell, Kam Culbertson, Devin Wright, Jacob Hartford, Craig Brown, Caleb Ackley, Edwin Johnson, Travis Tran, Simon LaCasse, Bronson Stevens, Ricky Wyman, Austin Sprague, Zach Herbig and Brandon Porter.

Belfast picked up victories over Winslow, Nokomis of Newport, Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft, Mount Desert Island and Old Town, while the Lions fell in games against Madison and Bangor.

In the team's 34-0 win over the Ponies, Dinsmore returned a kickoff for a touchdown and caught another from Nealey. Nealey also rushed for three touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions in the win. The team also earned a shutout victory over the Trojans 26-0.

In the team's 34-14 win over Winslow, Dinsmore caught three touchdown passes from Nealey, who himself had a pair of rushing touchdowns and compiled 65 yards on the ground.

In the team's 12-6 loss to Madison, Waterman caught a 30-yard touchdown from Nealey.
