Indie Christian recording artist and life coach Concepta will present a benefit concert for and at Searsport Full Gospel Church, 71 East Main St./Route 1, Saturday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m. Admission is $10, free for children younger than 10, with all proceeds going to church missions, projects and other needs.

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Concepta lived in New York City for 11 years and has lived in Maine for a year. She has traveled and toured countries like Zimbabwe, Bahrain, Dubai and Egypt, performing Christian genre music with a pop/R&B sound.

“The concert is by no means ‘traditional’ … and I can confidently say, it’s something the locals don’t normally get to experience,” she said, adding the evening also will feature spoken word, among other things, and musician Dillon Anderson Vardamis.

The concert will include Christmas season favorites, as well as Concepta’s own songs, the latest of which is titled "I Am! I Can!" She will be giving away a copy of this single to the first 10 people/families through the door. As a Certified Life Coach, Concepta works with teen girls, inspiring and empowering them to be all they were created to be.

Like lots of young girls, Concepta dreamed of becoming a pop star but with numerous opportunities and experiences throughout her career, she didn’t feel comfortable with the industry’s direction for her sound or image.

“I’m not perfect and I don’t judge others but I prefer being true to myself about who I am,” she said, and “I Am! I Can!” speaks to that vision.
