Many people in Waldo County awoke to a fine covering of snow on the ground Tuesday morning, Nov. 26, and while the weather kept local police busy with minor vehicle accidents, none of the crashes resulted in serious injury.

As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, Waldo County Sheriff Scott Story said deputies had responded to a handful of minor single vehicle accidents earlier in the day.

"We've had a few slips and slides today, but nothing serious," said Story.

With the winter season fast approaching, Story offered drivers some advice for the months ahead.

"Just remember what winter driving was like last year," he said.

Story suggested drivers take a little extra time to reach their destinations, and to travel slowly in adverse conditions.

"Remember, sometimes there's ice under that snow," said Story.

And as an added safety measure, Story recommended those who have yet to invest in a set of snow tires to do so as soon as possible.
