Maine deer hunters will have another opportunity to bag a deer this fall as the muzzleloader season begins on Monday, Dec. 2.

In addition, the expanded archery season also continues.

The firearms season on deer closed with the end of hunting hours on Saturday, Nov. 30. All indications are this season has been one of the best in recent years in terms of number of deer harvested and the health of the herd.

The muzzleloader season for deer runs until Saturday, Dec. 7 for those in all Wildlife Management Districts, and until Saturday, Dec. 14 for those in WMDs 12, 13, 15-18, 20-26, and 29. Expanded archery season also continues until then.

Hunters are reminded a muzzleloading license, in addition to a regular big-game hunting license, is needed to take advantage of the muzzleloading season. All other rules for deer hunting also apply.
