The following is a synopsis of the 2013-14 Mount View High School boys basketball team:

Coach/years coached current team: Chad Larrabee, first year.

Last year's record/playoff information: 5-15, 18th in Eastern Class B. The Mustangs did not qualify for the playoffs.

Roster: Seniors Jack Simpson (6-foot 1-inch guard), Kenny McGray (6-1 forward) and Bryan Jungels (5-9 guard); juniors Nathan Wren (6-3 forward), Steven Davis (6-1 forward), Brody Gibbs (6-0 guard) and Kyle Crowell (6-0 guard/forward); sophomores Mike Hustus (6-1 forward), Justin Lizotte (6-0 guard/forward), Gavin Simpson (6-0 guard), Cole Hannan (5-11 guard) and Tyler Ripley (6-0 forward); and freshmen Emmett Shell (6-1 forward) and Joey Danna (5-8 guard).

Known graduation losses: None.

Significant impact players: Wren, Davis and Shell.

Team strength: Youth.

Team goals: “To have great attitudes, great work ethic, be committed to to the team, and create a great team culture,” said Larrabee.

Top league opponents: All teams in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B division.

Outlook: The Mustangs have a wealth of youth on this year's team as they lost no players to graduation, thus, several players are seasoned veterans. Davis and Wren are a talented duo of juniors, while Shell looks to make an impact early as a freshman.

“We are a very young team with only three seniors on the roster, but many of these kids have seen a lot of [playing] time the last few years,” said Larrabee. “We will need our upperclassmen to be great leaders and role models, and our underclassmen will need to learn fast and step into leadership roles themselves.”
