Outlook: Losing five seniors to graduation and two other prospective players this year due to injuries, including senior Maddy Cummings, who suffered an injury during field hockey season, the Lions have lost all five of its starters from last year's team.

“We will be a young team that will learn and play hard throughout the year,” said Sturgis, who added that Ashley Littlefield will likely be the team's top scoring option and defender.

“While the rest of our team is young and growing, they are athletic and smart players,” he said. “We are hoping to be competitive and grow as a team every game this season, with the girls wanting to prove everyone wrong and wanting to make playoffs this year. I am excited to have this bunch of girls. They have great attitudes and work ethic. Win or lose this should be a fun season watching these girls play hard and get better every game.”
