Visitors to the Regional School Unit 3 website will notice a few changes as the district rolls out a new look.

Superintendent Heather Perry said the website redesign work began in August and the district is now unveiling the changes. She said the decision to look at updating the site was due to a number of factors, which included making the website more user friendly and bringing more attention to students and what they are doing in the schools.

Perry said when people were trying to navigate to various areas of the previous website they would run into issues where they would click on a link to go to a different part of the site, but then encounter an error message. While the redesign should address those issues, Perry encouraged anyone who encounters an issue to contact the district so the problem can be fixed.

In an effort to bring more attention to the students in the district, Perry said the website will also include an area where videos can be uploaded that showcase the work being done in the schools. The main page of the website also features a rotating feature spot that highlights different events happening at RSU 3 schools, student clubs and other activities.

Finally, Perry said the website will also feature a blog she is writing regarding the district's proficiency-based learning curriculum. Perry said she intends to update the blog on a weekly basis and will use any feedback or questions from parents to guide her future blog posts.

Other than the changes stated above, Perry said most of the content is the same as it was on the district's older website with the exception that the phone number and address for the superintendent's office is now displayed on the home page.

There was no additional cost — outside of staff time dedicated to redesigning the website — because all of the work was done in-house by the district's technology department, Perry said.
