The Mount View basketball squads had successful nights on the court Thursday, Dec. 12 with the Mustangs squaring off against Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

The Mustang boys bested the Huskies 49-32 in Pittsfield to shoot to 3-0 on the young campaign, while the Mustang girls earned their first win with a 44-36 victory over the Huskies in Thorndike.

Boys basketball

Mount View 49, Maine Central Institute 32

At Pittsfield Dec. 12, the 'Stangs remained unbeaten on the young season with a 17-point win over the Huskies. Mount View led 11-7, 26-13 and 36-27 at the quarter breaks.

Brody Gibbs and Jack Simpson each scored 14 points to lead Mount View, while Emmett Shell and Mikey Hustus both added six; Nathan Wren, five; and Bryan Jungels, four.

Jordan Valente scored 10 points to lead MCI, while Austin Tolman tallied nine.

Girls basketball

Mount View 44, Maine Central Institute 36

At Thorndike Dec. 12, the Mustangs secured their first win of the season.

Courtney Morse and Brooke Tripp each scored 13 points for Mount View, while Ashley Spaulding added nine; Jenni Nadeau, Aleesha Spaulding, Tori Strain and Morgan Clifford, all two; and Dinah Bilodeau, one.

Mount View netted 9-of-19 free throws (47 percent).
