For the second straight day, high school athletic events throughout Knox, Waldo and part of Lincoln counties have been postponed due to a heavy dose of snow.

More than a foot of snow fell in various spots throughout the area, thanks to a storm that began Tuesday night, Dec. 17 and stretched into the early hours of Wednesday morning, Dec. 18.

Of the nine varsity athletic events on the docket, six have been postponed, while three others will get their games in.

• The varsity basketball games between Camden Hills and Maranacook will be played Wednesday, Dec. 18, with the Windjammer boy  at Readfield at 6:30 p.m. and the Windjammer girls hosting the Black Bears at 7 p.m. in Rockport.

• The Camden Hills ice hockey team also will face Leavitt of Turner on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.

• The varsity basketball games between the Belfast and Oceanside have been postponed for the second straight day. The games, originally slated to be played on Tuesday, Dec. 17 and moved to Wednesday, Dec. 18, now will be played on Thursday, Dec. 19. The boys game will tip off at 6:30 p.m in Belfast, while the girls game will tip off at 6:30 p.m. in Rockland.

• The varsity basketball doubleheader with North Haven at Vinalhaven also has been postponed, time and date to be determined.

• The wrestling meet at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle, which was to have both Mount View of Thorndike and Oceanside of Rockland/Thomaston compete against the Eagles, will be a dual-meet instead of a tri-meet. The Mariners will not travel to Newcastle, while the Mustangs will make the trip. The meet will begin at 7 p.m.

• The Belfast at Medomak Valley wrestling meet has been postponed and will be on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. at Medomak Middle School. Medomak Valley High School will be unavailable as the Panther girls basketball team will host Morse of Bath in a makeup game, thus the venue change for wrestling.
