Superintendent Brian Carpenter will be on board with the district for another year after the Regional School Unit 20 Board of Directors agreed to renew his contract with the district at a special meeting Wednesday night, Dec. 18.

The meeting was rescheduled due the snow storm that came through the mid-coast region Tuesday night, Dec. 17.

Board Chairman Tony Bagley said Thursday morning, Dec. 19 that the vote to renew Carpenter's contract was 8-4.

Bagley said he was one of the eight who voted in favor of the contract renewal, in addition to Directors James Cunningham, Percy King, Denise Dakin, Stephen Hopkins, Valerie Mank, Debora Riley and Alan Wood. The four directors who were opposed to the motion to renew the contract were Caitlin Hills, Christopher Hyk, Alexa Schweikert and Tony Swebilius.

Absent from the meeting were Directors Charles Grey, Jason Perkins, David Ferguson and Sharon Catus, and Bagley said Director Stephanie Wade was present for the discussions, but had to leave the meeting prior to the board vote.
