Verna M. Sweet, 83, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 26, 2013 at her son’s home. She was born in Prospect on Oct. 22, 1930, the daughter of Ernest and Ethel (Quimby) Harriman. She was one of 13 children and the only twin to survive from three sets of twins. Verna weighted two pounds when she was born. Verna worked at the blueberry, chicken and sardine factories. Her favorite pastime was playing bingo with her friends. Her hat said it all, “Bingo Nut.” She loved her children and her wishes were that her children get along.

She is survived by her five children; Delmar (Martha) Harriman, Eileen (Stuart) Bartlett, Joseph (Michele) Greenier, Rosemary (William) Estes and Michael (Louise) Greenier, the Noyes children (her second family), seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Verna has one surviving brother, Linwood Harriman and two sisters-in-law, Lucille Harriman and Madeline Sweet. She was predeceased by her companion of 32 years, Edwin Noyes, and her husbands Wilfred Sweet and Fredrick Greenier.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 11, 2014 at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Burial will be held at a later date in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery in Searsport.
