Hilda Brierley, 95, of Belfast, passed away Jan. 7 at her residence. She was born on the Family Farm in Monroe the daughter of the late Oscar and Maude Dow. The family farm was sold in 1935 and Hilda and her family moved to Belfast. She finished her high school education at Crosby High School. She worked for a local Taylor, sewing and making clothes, later having her own business in her home as a seamstress making fine clothing and wedding dresses.

She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Belfast, also the Belfast Garden Club. She was a kind and gentle person and never had a bad word for anyone.

She was predeceased by her husband Edward Brierley, her sister Vivian Dow and brother Ormand Dow.

Hilda is survived by her two sons Lefty Brierley of Austin, Texas, and Bruce Brierely and wife Harriet, of Searsmont; granddaughters Kandace Niles and her fiancé Shawn, of Carmel, Gayleen Gogan and husband Jessie, of Searsmont; great grandchildren Brian, Ashley, Holly and Bobby Jo. She also will be missed by a long time friend and care giver Donna Talarico.

A service will be held at a later date to be announced in the spring.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
