Clayton C. Bowden Jr., 72, of Springfield, Ohio, and Liberty, Maine, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, in his residence. He was born March 14, 1941, in Portland, Maine, the son of Clayton C. and Madeline (Bonney) Bowden Sr. Bowden was a member of the Westside Christian Community Church and the Union Club. He loved to refurbish classic automobiles. Bowden was retired from Bath Iron Works in Bath and was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

Survivors include his loving wife Rachael Elaine (Hawkins) Bowden; two children, Tony Bowden, of Florida, and Jodi Luke, of Circleville, Ohio; two step-children Von Rick Harenberg, of Springfield, and Bethany (Charles) Schleicher, of Martins Ferry, Ohio; one grandson, Spencer Luke; two sisters, Shirley Bowde, of Liberty, and Linda (Joe) Escamilla, of Eola, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Stacey Bowden and his parents.

Memorial services were held in the Westside Christian Community Church with Pastor Costy Saba officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Mercy Hospice. Bowden's family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Khanna and his staff and the staff of Community Mercy Hospice for all their wonderful care and kindness. Arrangements are being handled by the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home.
