In 2013, Travis Benjamin of Morrill experienced another memorable year on the race track, which culminated recently when he earned's Quarter Master Clutch Performance of the Year.

Quarter Master honored the Clutch Performance of the Month, with an esteemed panel of short track industry insiders voting on which drivers came through in the clutch for that month. At the end of the year, the panel selects, from the monthly winners, who earns the Quarter Master Clutch Performance of the Year.

Benjamin, who races in the Pro All-Star Series (PASS) North, won the honor based on his performance in July of last year, where he won the TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Benjamin will receive a free 5.5 Optimum V Magnesium Bell Housing kit from Quarter Master, their top-of-the-line short track setup.

"Quarter Master is excited once again to award Travis the Clutch Performer of the Year," said Jeff Neal, President of Quarter Master. "Travis had a great season, but the highlight for us was his win at Oxford. Oxford has so much tradition and the best of the best have won there. He must be very proud.”

As one voter noted with his ballot, "One car, one motor, a little rig, and a bunch of family and friends. Travis needed to know he can win races, the talent has always been there. Now he has the right combination, and he is one of the most deserving Oxford 250 champions in recent years."

Benjamin, a Belfast Area High School graduate, also won the PASS North Super Late Model points title in 2012.

Some of the Northeast's most successful racers have etched their names into the record books as winners of the prestigious TD Bank 250 at Maine's Oxford Plains Speedway.  Names like Dion, Bodine, Rowe (Mike and Ben), Hanley, Craven and Aube are among the names who have won the TD Bank 250 since its inception in 1974.

The 2014 racing season opens Saturday, April 12 at 2 p.m. at Oxford Plains Speedway with the Ripley & Fletcher Ford 150
