Judith Ann (Jackson) Fletcher, 72, of China, passed away peacefully April 7 with her family and friends by her side. She passed away at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta following a long illness.

She was born in Belfast Jan. 6, 1942, the daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Smith) Jackson. She grew up in Belfast and graduated from Walker High School in Liberty in 1960. She married the late Robert Arvide Fletcher of China in July 1961 and enjoyed being a housewife and mother for nearly 53 years of her life. Judy was also employed by China Elementary School for several years as a cook in the kitchen. She loved this job because she could be close to her children every day.

Judy is predeceased by her husband Robert Arvide Fletcher; her father and mother Harold and Mildred (Smith) Jackson; brothers Olan Jackson, Richard Jackson, David Jackson and Paul Jackson; and a sister Dora (Jackson) Phillips. She is survived by her three sons David Fletcher, of China, Danny Fletcher, of Pemaquid, and Bobby Fletcher, of Farmingdale; her grandsons, Scott Fletcher and wife Regina, of China, and Seth Fletcher, of Pemaquid. Judy was head-over-heels in love with her great-granddaughters Jasmine Fletcher and Virginia Fletcher of China. She is also survived by her sisters Jessie (Jackson) Rhodes and husband Milford of Belfast,  Donna (Jackson) Way and husband Lawrence of Belfast, and Mary (Jackson) Benjamin of Belfast; brothers Robert Jackson and wife Mary of Belfast, Harold Jackson Jr. of Belfast, and Hartley Jackson and wife Debbie of Belfast; honorary sister Laura Stair, of Belfast; and special friends Dustin and Ruthann Cram of Sidney. In addition there are many surviving nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be sadly missed by her dog Sadie.

Judy enjoyed crafting. She was always doing something with her hands. She had a knack for spotting a unique craft when out and about, then going out and buying the materials to make it, which would usually result in everyone getting one as a gift. She loved giving. At Christmas her children and grandchildren could always expect some great item handmade by Mom/Nana. She loved camping with her husband and making friends. They had many friends all from all over and when traveling always found themselves staying with one or more of their many camping friends. She truly touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Judy enjoyed going to Bible study and loved all of her friends in her group at the China Baptist Church. They always welcomed her with open arms and when she was sick always offered to come pick her up for Bible study and bring her back home. Even though she battled cancer she always had a positive outlook on life and always had a smile on her face. She was and her family is grateful for the outstanding care she received from Maine General Medical Center and the Maine General Dialysis Unit in Waterville where she made many friends. She will be missed by many.

A combined Celebration of Life service for Judy and her late husband Robert will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at the China Baptist Church with a reception to follow in the church vestry. In lieu of flowers, donations to the China Baptist Church would be welcomed and appreciated. Mail donations to China Baptist Church, P.O. Box 6095, China Village, ME 04926.
