The high school wrestling season drew to a close in February with five Midcoast squads finishing their campaigns in fine fashion.

Camden Hills, Belfast, Medomak Valley, Mount View and Oceanside all had strong seasons, particularly the Windjammers, who continued their dominance in their conference, the region and ultimately, all of Class B.

The Windjammers finished second (first overall in Class B) at the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference championships (131.5 points) Saturday, Feb. 1 at Mount Ararat High School, prevailed in the Eastern Class B championship Saturday, Feb. 8 at Belfast Area High School (203) and won the state Class B championship Saturday, Feb. 15 at Bath Middle School (124).

The Lions finished fourth (84.5) at the KVACs and fourth (82) at the regionals and seventh (52) at the states.

The Panthers finished 12th (46.5) at the KVACs, eighth (43) at the regionals and 16th at the states (19).

The Mustangs finished ninth (60) at the KVACs, sixth (71) at the Western Class B championships Saturday, Feb. 1 at Winslow High School and ninth (39) at the states.

The Mariners finished 17th (26) at the KVACs, 10th at the regionals (10) and tied for 19th (no score) at the states.

Camden Hills, Medomak Valley, Belfast and Oceanside all compete in Eastern Class B, while Mount View competes in Western Class B.
