Despite challenging spring weather and the recent school spring vacation break, Busline League middle school baseball and softball seasons are in full swing, with a handful of Midcoast squads hitting the field in recent days.

Hope/Appleton 25, Searsport 1 (3 inns.)

At Searsport April 30, Hope/Appleton scored runs in droves and bested the Vikings in three innings. The game was shortened due to a second game scheduled at the field later in the afternoon.

Leading Hope/Appleton at the plate were Gillian Lafleche (4 hits, 4 runs), Nicole Brown (hit, 3 runs), Laticia Billings (hit, 2 runs), Payton Wiley (hit, 3 runs), Alyson Glasier (2 hits, 4 runs), Madison Maxwell (2 hits, 3 runs), Jillian Theviridge (2 hits, 2 runs), Maggie Maxwell (2 hits, 2 runs) and McKenna Maxwell (hit, 2 runs).

Billings pitched for Hope/Appleton, allowing two hits and four walks, with seven strikeouts.

At Thomaston April 29, the Mariners drew several walks throughout the game and prevailed over the Vikings.

Casey Pine, Lauren Miller and Emily Tyler accounted for 13 of Oceanside's 27 runs.

Kristine Ferguson pitched for Oceanside, walking five and striking out 10. Jenna Keach pitched for Searsport.

Medomak 8, Troy Howard 7

At Waldoboro April 29, the Riverhawks staved off a late Lion rally and prevailed by one run. Medomak led for nearly the entire game before Troy Howard scored six times in the top of the seventh inning to knot the score.

Hallie Kunesh scored one of her three runs on the day in the bottom of the seventh inning to help the hosts pick up the win.

Gabby DePatsy pitched for Medomak, allowing one walk, while striking out 13 batters.

Abby Nelson, Kunesh and DePatsy also had hits on the day, while DePatsy, Josie Jameson, Anna Wadsworth and Alyssa Blackler each scored one run and Cassidy Benner two.

At Waldoboro April 28, the visitors prevailed by four runs over the Riverhawks.

Leading the Hope/Appleton offense was Gillian Lafleche (3 hits, 2 runs), Laticia Billings (hit, run, RBI) and Nicole Brown (2 runs).

Gabby DePatsy socked a home run for Medomak's lone hit, while Anna Wadsworth and Hallie Kunesh also reached base for the hosts.

Lafleche pitched for Hope/Appleton, allowing one hit and two walks, with 14 strikeouts. DePatsy pitched for Medomak, allowing four hits and six walks, with 14 strikeouts.

Oceanside 10, Searsport 3

At Rockland April 29, the Mariners surged to a seven-run win over the Vikings. Oceanside scored twice in the first inning, once in the third, three times in the fifth and four times in the sixth. Searsport scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning.

Sheridan and Waldron pitched for the Mariners, allowing three hits and eight walks, with 19 strikeouts. Powell pitched for the Vikings, allowing 10 hits and nine walks, with five strikeouts.

Troy Howard 12, Medomak 0

At Waldoboro April 29, the Lions roared to a convincing win over the Riverhawks. Ben Dever had a multi-hit game for the hosts.

At Bristol April 29, the Blue Devils nabbed a five-run win over the Riverhawks. Bristol scored two runs in the first inning and six in the fourth, while Medomak scored two runs in the third and another in the fifth.

Nathan Emerson, Kevin White and Alden McLain all pitched for Medomak, allowing 11 walks, while striking out two.

Eli McCollett singled, stole two bases and scored a run for the visitors, while Alden McLain drew two walks and stole three bases for Medomak.
