Ella Mae Work, 93, of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka, Fla. She has now joined her husband of 73 years to continue their journey together. She was born on September 22, 1920, in Brooks. She is survived by their children Gary Work and wife Glendine of Dayton, Calvin Work and Terri of Macclenny, Fla. and Jane Booth and husband Howard of Interlachen, Fla., grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Dow, Jennifer Work, Keith (Cindy) Work, Michael Work, Kristina (Randy) Crews, Melinda Phillips, Hazel Booth and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Ernestine Riley, Francis Dolloff, Lucille Fox and brothers, Irving and Roger Roberts. She is survived by her sisters Marion Wood, Norma Woodbury and Margaret Littlefield; brothers-in-law Hugh Littlefield and Neil Fox; sisters-in-law Viola Roberts and Dawn Roberts; as well as many other beloved family members.

Ella grew up on a farm in rural Maine. In her early adulthood she picked potatoes and worked in a pants factory. After marrying her true love she was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time outdoors. Some of her favorite activities were camping, picnicking, fishing, swimming, working in her flower garden and bird watching. She and Guy both loved playing cards with their family. They loved to travel and especially enjoyed their trip to Alaska. Their retirement years were spent summering in Maine and spending winters in Florida.

Graveside services for both Guy and Ella Work will be held July 19 at 2 p.m. at Kinney Cemetery in Brooks.
