Waterfall Arts’ summer classes and workshops for adults and older teens begin in June with drawing, etching and ceramics instruction. Most of the classes will meet once a week for four weeks, allowing flexibility in everyone’s busy schedule.

Mike Fletcher will instruct in drawing the figure Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m., June 17 to July 8. Fletcher is an experienced artist who has organized life drawing groups for many years. Wednesdays from 5 to 8 p.m., June 19 through July 9, ceramic artists Cory Upton-Consulich and Adam Bogosian will teach functional pottery and glazing techniques to students of all levels. Randy Fein is offering her popular Clay Garden Vessels workshop Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29, from 1 to 5 pm and the group will meet again Saturday, July 19, to paint and decorate the clay vessels after dry.

Experienced printer Jeff Jelenfy will teach intaglio techniques in etching in Waterfall Arts’ fully equipped print studio. The class will meet Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m., June 19 to July 17 (no class on July 3).

Emily Brown, well-known Maine and Philadelphia artist, will lead a drawing nature class at Waterfall Arts’ Montville location Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 1 to 29. Working mainly from observable still life subjects, students will consider aspects of looking and mark-making such as proportion, the behavior of light, spatial illusion, qualities of marks and scale.

Classes and workshop in July include printmaking with Dina Petrillo and Tara Law; primitive clay intensive; viral videos with Todd Bieber of the Upright Citizens Brigade; making pinhole cameras for the whole family with Mike Fletcher; and shibori Japanese scarf dyeing with Sandi Cirillo. August’s schedule holds a watercolor class with Lesia Sochor; two torchwork glass classes with Marta Bernbaum; a sequencing workshop; and color etching with Richard Mann.

All classes have minimum and maximum enrollment thresholds, so early registration will improve the chances of running and being included.
