Belfast police have arrested an Orland woman on charges stemming from a head-on crash on Back Searsport Road in April.

Jaqueline Low, 46, of Orland, was arrested on a warrant Friday, June 6, charging Low with operating under the influence and driving to endanger in connection with the crash, which occurred on the afternoon of April 17.

At the time of the crash, Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham said Low lost control of her 2004 Subaru Forester after going airborne on Back Searsport Road and striking a Maritime Energy van head-on.

Cunningham said prior to the crash, a retired police officer passed Low and estimated she was driving at least 100 mph along the road.

The driver of the Maritime Energy van, David Gower, 30, of Searsmont, was uninjured in the crash. Cunningham said Low suffered a broken ankle and was taken to Waldo County General Hospital for treatment.

"It's amazing [Low] walked away from that one," said Cunningham Monday, June 9.
