Portland-based music and dance troupe Olas will perform as part of Maine Fare Friday, June 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Main Tent at Steamboat Landing, foot of Commercial Street on the waterfront.

Olas is an original, all acoustic ensemble. Heavily inspired by traditional and contemporary flamenco music and dance, the music of Olas is a distinctive blend of Arabic, Afro-Cuban, rock and American folk accompanied by original dance choreographies that marry elements of modern dance to a flamenco foundation.

Concertgoers can expect songs sung in Spanish, palmas, contemporary dance and traditional instruments such as the oud, ney and guitar. Olas claims no one genre or tradition, but strives to honor music and dance as passionate, expressive media. The concert is presented in conjunction with the Free Range Music Festival and half of the proceeds will benefit the 2015 fest.

Cost is $10, free younger than age 5, for the all-ages show. Marshall Wharf Brewing Co. will have beer on tap for those age 21 and older (must show ID). For information on Maine Fare, visit maine-fare.org.
