Belfast firefighters spent about 10 minutes extinguishing a tractor fire in a field on Poors Mills Road the afternoon of Monday, June 23.

Fire Chief Jim Richards said a crew responded to the report of a tractor fire shortly before 3:30 p.m. He said an unknown issue caused a fire to ignite in the engine compartment of the tractor, which was being used to hay a field on Poors Mills Road.

He did not know the make or model of the tractor.

It took firefighters about 10 minutes to put out the fire and Richards said he was unsure if the tractor was destroyed, but added it sustained a significant amount of damage to the engine compartment.

No one was injured as a result of the fire, he said.
