A Knox couple suffered serious injuries after their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Thorndike.

The crash occurred Saturday, June 21, when the driver of the motorcycle, Walter Thompson, 37, and his wife, 30-year-old Cassandra Thompson, were following too closely to a pickup truck on Unity Road in Thorndike. The pickup truck, driven by Meghan White, 18, was attempting to turn into a driveway when the motorcycle struck the side of the vehicle, Lt. Aaron Hayden of the Maine State Police Troop D said.

Walter Thompson suffered a crushed leg as a result of the crash. Cassandra Thompson was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor where she was placed in a medically induced coma due to a traumatic head injury.
