Helen “Penny” (Waterman) Squibb, 77, of Belfast, passed away on June 29, 2014, at Waldo County General Hospital with her husband holding her hand. She was born October 26, 1936 in Boston, Mass., the daughter of George H. and Helen (Marshall) Waterman. Penny earned her bachelor’s degree and went on to work in retail sales. She then worked as librarian at a private school in New York where she later became associate dean of students. She enjoyed the relationships she had with all her students. Penny will be remembered for her superb needlework and cross stitching. She even won prizes at a national level. She shared a love of flower gardening with her husband. Penny was on the board of directors of Belfast Maskers and volunteered at the Belfast Historical Society and Museum.

She is predeceased by her parents and a sister. Penny is survived by her loving husband, George Squibb of Belfast; her sons, Kurt and Peter; stepsons George and Tom; brothers George and Dick; sisters Emily and Libby; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and special friend, Cathy Dyer of Belfast.
