The District 2 Little League 10- and 11-year-old baseball all-star tournament swung in Saturday, July 12 with three squads vying for the coveted title.

Medomak Valley, Oceanside and Waldo County are involved in the double-elimination tournament, but it is Medomak Valley that has put itself in the driver's seat through two games.

Medomak Valley (2-0) earned a 7-3 win over Oceanside July 12, followed by a 4-0 win over Waldo County July 13, which, in turn, earned Medomak Valley a berth in the district title game, slated for Friday, July 18.

All tourney games are played at the E. Allen Gordon Field.

Waldo County and Oceanside, both 0-1, will square off in an elimination game on Wednesday, July 16 with the winner advancing to Friday's game against Medomak Valley.

Medomak Valley — Noah Crosby, Parker Morrison, Colby Castner, Colvin Standring, Adam Berry, Ethan Reed, Jake Bickmore, Zach Winpenny, Addison Mellor, Garret Hutchins, Anthony York, Isiah Staples, Aiden Starr and Zach Benner. The team is managed by Scott Martin and coached by Chad Reed and Andrew Bickmore.

Oceanside — Nathaniel Barnard, Austin Chilles, Joey Curtis-Hamilton, Will Eaton, Darik Johnson, Finn Lynch, Hunter Moore, Hunter Norton, Logan Putansu, Tyler Sukeforth, Zach Upham and Landdon Willis. The team is managed by Davin Putansu.

Waldo County — Gabe Kneeland, Cody Reynolds, Hayden Hunt, Josh Miner, Brady Moulton, Stephen Perkins, Kevin Moreau, Samantha Perkins, Isiah Therio and Nicholas Moreau. The team is managed by Otis Kneeland.

The following is a recap of recently-reported results:

Medomak Valley 4, Waldo County 0

At Rockland July 13, Medomak Valley clinched a berth in the championship game with a shutout win over Waldo County. Medomak Valley scored one run in the first and fourth innings and two runs in the sixth.

Kneeland and Miner singled to lead Waldo County at the plate.

Hunt and Miner pitched for Waldo County, walking two and striking out 15 in the losing effort.

Medomak Valley 7, Oceanside 3

At Rockland July 12, Medomak Valley came away with a four-run victory to advance to the next round of the tournament. Medomak Valley scored two in the first, two in the third and one in the fourth, fifth and sixth frames, while Oceanside scored one in the first, fifth and sixth innings.

Leading Medomak Valley at the plate were Morrison (2 doubles, run), Mellor (single, run), Winpenny (home run, double, single, 3 runs), Berry (3 singles), Bickmore (double, 2 runs) and Crosby (single).

For Oceanside, Lynch (single, 2 runs), Putansu (single), Moore (double, single), Curtis (single), Eaton (2 singles, run), Sukeforth (double) and Upham (single) paced the offense.

Winpenny, Reed and Crosby pitched for Medomak Valley, allowing nine hits and two walks, with eight strikeouts. Putansu and Eaton pitched for Oceanside, allowing 11 hits and one walk, with 13 strikeouts.
