Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following incidents in Waldo County between July 6 and July 11. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 800-452-4664.

July 11

Trooper Corey Smith received a report of a missing person in Liberty.

Trooper Smith received a report of a runaway in Northport.

Trooper Smith received a report of a missing person from Northport.

July 10

Trooper Smith stopped a vehicle on Weymouth Road in Morrill for an inspection violation. James Johnson, 33, of Searsmont, held a suspended license and was using license plates issued to another. Johnson was charged with operating after suspension, illegal attachment, failure to have vehicle inspected and failure to produce evidence of insurance. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Trooper Thomas Bureau stopped to assist a stranded motorist on Route 3 in Palermo. The passenger, Amy Hudson, 31, was arrested on two outstanding warrants from 2012.

July 8

Trooper Bureau investigated a burglary in Searsmont. The incident is still under investigation.

July 7

Trooper Bureau stopped Laurent J. Poulin, 70, for speeding 82 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 3 in Belmont. Poulin admitted to consuming four alcoholic drinks in the last hour while driving around. Poulin was charged with operating under the influence and issued a ticket for the speed violation.

July 6

Trooper Smith intervened in a dispute in Swanville.

Trooper Smith investigated a boat theft on Steven's Pond in Liberty. The owner later found the boat floating on the pond. The case is still under investigation.

An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
