BelfastArts’ Final Fridays Art Walk this month will take place July 25. Everyone is invited to explore the downtown galleries, as well as the studios surrounding the downtown area from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Every Final Fridays Art Walk offers an evening of art, performance, food and drink and, as always, a taste of Belfast’s vibrant arts community. Performers this month will be Beverly Mann, Shana Bloomstein and Craig Hensley. Mann is an actress, maskmaker and mime who will be roaming downtown in her beautiful, whimsica, and expressive masks. Bloomstein will be dancing in the streets — look for her performing modern dance throughout the downtown.

Also keep an ear out for singer/songwriter Craig Hensley, who will provide music for the July 25 art walk. And Bridget Matros will run a kid-friendly table for family art activities, so young people attending the art walk can create their own artworks.

The downtown area will be full of new gallery shows, and there are studios a few blocks from downtown that are just an easy, pleasant walk away. These include Tom Gaines Stonehouse, exhibiting a retrospective of work showing various styles for the past 35 years. Gaines’ most recent figurative and representational work, along with his current rock series will be featured in the post and beam house and stonehouse at 28 Race S.

Parent Gallery is showing new images by Neal Parent from his trips to Ireland, California and Maine. Joanne Parent has a set of new oils, Peg Bair has a whole new group of digital images, and Keith Maynard has some new sculptures. Also there is Dan Bennett’s jewelry line, always new and original.

This month, the co-operative gallery Art Alliance (AAG) is pleased to be featuring bird-themed fused glass, needle-felted sculpture, barrel-fired hand built clay vessels and large action-packed nautical paintings. Other participating venues include Harbor Artisans, Gail Savitz’s Front Street Pottery, Fresh Cup Gallery, Galerie Dufour at Eat More Cheese and Waterfall Arts. For the complete list, visit

Dates for the remaining 2014 Final Fridays Art Walks are Aug. 29, Sept. 26 and Oct. 31. During July and August, there is an art walk of some manner every Friday evening.
