The Friends of Fort Knox had planned to kick off the Historic Site’s special event season July 6 with a concert by Elton John tribute band Yellow Brick Road, but nasty weather intervened. The concert will take place Saturday, Aug. 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the parade grounds of Fort Knox, Route 174. The professional band has performance dates across the country.

Tickets are $10, $5 for children younger than 12. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 469-6553; they will be available at the fort. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and, for those with a mind for it, comfortable dancing shoes.

The concert takes place in the middle of the annual Psychic/Paranormal Faire, which runs Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fort Knox. This unusual event features presentations from ghost hunters, UFO enthusiasts and world famous author, TV personality and cryptozoologist Loren Coleman. Psychics/card readers will be on hand for those wishing to purchase a reading or photo.

Admission to the Psychic/Paranormal Faire is the standard fort admission plus a requested $2 event donation to help defray costs and fund fort restoration projects. For the complete schedule, visit Fort Knox is owned by the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands for the people of Maine.
