Law enforcement officials with Troop D of the Maine State Police responded to the following incidents in Waldo County Sept. 8 and Sept. 13. Anyone with information regarding ongoing investigations is asked to call 800-452-4664.

Sept. 13

Trooper Benjamin Sweeney arrested James Kuhn, 28, of Brooks on an active warrant.

Trooper Sweeney stopped a vehicle on Route 7 in Brooks for an inspection sticker violation. Katherine Smith, 36, of Brooks, was charged for the misdemeanor crime and released from the scene.

Sept. 11

Trooper Sweeney arrested Diane Brown, 45, of Jackson on three active warrants. During the arrest, Brown was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Brown was charged with felony possession of schedule W drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and violating conditions of release.

Sept. 9

Trooper Corey Smith charged Alan Hewins, 58, and Tommy Hewins, 29, both of Burnham with theft after observing the two men loading an old culvert onto a trailer on Winnecook Road in Burnham without having permission to take it.

Trooper Smith received a report of a stolen chainsaw in Knox. The theft is still under investigation.

Trooper Jeremiah Wesbrock stopped a vehicle on School Street in Unity for displaying an expired registration. Emma Hilary was charged with operating with an expired registration greater than 150 days.

Sept. 8

Trooper Sweeney stopped a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign in Brooks. David Graham, 57, of Brooks was summoned for failure to register a motor vehicle.

An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
