Out! As I Want To Be will host a Movie and Meet evening Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Breakwater Vinery and the Strand Theatre, both downtown on Main Street.

A special wine tasting and community mixer will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Breakwater Vinery, 373 Main St., with networking and discussion about Out!'s upcoming plans and projects. At 7 p.m., the Strand, 345 Main St., will screen “52 Tuesdays,” is a first-run, critically acclaimed Australian film whose director, Sophie Hyde, won the best directing award at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

“52 Tuesdays” tells the story of Billie, a 16-year-old whose reluctant path to independence is accelerated when her mother engages in gender confirmation surgery to become a man and their time together becomes limited to Tuesday afternoons. Filmed over a year, one day a week, “52 Tuesdays” offers a rare authenticity in an emotionally charged story of desire, responsibility and transformation.

To purchase advance tickets for the Movie and Meet event, visit outmaine.org and donate  — $20 for the film, $30 for movie plus wine tasting — via PayPal; a confirmation will be sent.
