Everyone is invited to be a member of the live audience for Belfast Creative Coalition’s inaugural “Inspire-a-thon,” an old-fashioned telethon that will be broadcast live over BCTV2 and streamed live over the Internet from the Troy Howard Middle School stage Sunday, Sept. 28, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Co-hosts Chris Quimby and John Burstein will be coordinating all the action of the live performances, while the 2014 Cultivate Preview Party will be happening in the school’s gymnasium; and there will be an animal exhibit with horse rides on the grounds.

Before the big celebrities, before the national sponsorships, local TV stations supported worthy causes by showcasing the skills, inventiveness and abilities within the community. As one would expect, operators will be standing by to taking pledge through a bank of cell phones.

The live audience members will enjoy presentations by comedians, musicians, poets, martial arts, fashionistas, yoga practitioners, mimes, fencer, dancers and visual artists.  Brief video segments will be interspersed between the on-stage performances. Those at the school, located at 173 Lincolnville Ave./Route 52, also can visit the Children’s Art Table, pet a llama and enjoy samples of fine art, handmade products and homegrown food at the Cultivate Preview Party. Prizes will be given out through out the day.

“Inspire-a-thon” aims to be an all-encompassing event by showcasing local talent, previewing October’s 2014 Cultivate: Belfast Area Farm and Arts Trail and serving as a membership fundraising drive for BCC.
