A two-vehicle crash on Route 3 in Belmont the afternoon of Sept. 26 sent a Searsmont woman to the hospital.

Waldo County Sheriff's Deputy Cody Laite responded to the two-vehicle crash on Route 3 near the intersection of Lincolnville Road at 3:44 p.m.

Laite wrote in the crash report that Stephanie D. Fuller, 50, of Searsmont, was attempting to turn left onto Lincolnville Road in her 2005 Honda passenger van and was waiting for eastbound traffic to clear.

As Fuller was waiting to turn, a 1997 Dodge pick-up truck driven by Daniel W. Lessard, 28, of Palermo, was traveling westbound when he attempted to slow down to avoid colliding with Fuller's van. However, Lessard's foot slipped off of the brake pedal, Laite said.

Lessard's pick-up truck rear-ended Fuller's van, causing about $4,000 in damage to the vehicles, Laite estimated. Fuller was taken to Waldo County General Hospital after complaining of neck pain. No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Lessard was issued a citation for operating after suspension.
