The Waldo County Municipal Association will host a candidates' forum Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Hutchinson Center.

The forum is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. and municipal, school and county officials from Waldo County, as well as members of the public, are encouraged to attend.

All 15 candidates running for state Senate and state representative were invited to participate; nearly all of the candidates have accepted.

During the first part of the forum, questions important to local government officials will be posed to the candidates on a number of issues related to recent cuts in municipal revenue-sharing, property tax relief programs, the status of school funding, unfunded state mandates, bridge and road maintenance, candidates' views on local government consolidation, the county-state jail unification and other issues.

There will also be an opportunity for members of the audience to ask questions.

Municipal officials and the public are encouraged to attend to get to know the candidates better and learn where the future legislators stand on the issues.
