Belfast Area High School students, faculty and staff recently celebrated many global cultures during the school's first International Week.

Throughout the week, exchange students from Russia, Sweden, Germany and Vietnam shared images and information about their native countries with each grade level. Staff, faculty and students displayed food, music and memorabilia from their travels during lunch and all were invited to participate in the daily "map challenge" on the massive world map in the school's cafeteria.

The week included the third annual International Night, during which five students and faculty made presentations about their travels, and a panel of the school's current exchange students answered questions about life as an exchange student.

The goal of the week was to introduce the BAHS students to other cultures, to the possibilities of travel and to cultural exploration in their own lives and also to celebrate the growing diversity in the school community. The school intends to make this an annual event.
