Winterport Open Stage marks the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s beloved classic “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” with its fall musical production “Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka KIDS,” opening Saturday, Nov. 1, for a two-weekend run at the Samuel L. Wagner Middle School, Mountain View Drive.

This one-act, theater for young audiences version features all the well-loved songs, along with a few new surprises. Audiences can join Charlie, Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee and the famous chocolatier himself, Willy Wonka, on an adventure so delicious one can nearly taste it. The show, directed by Elaine Bard and featuring Christina Belknap as Willy Wonka, is sure to delight audiences of all ages.

There will be evening performances at 7 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 1 and 8, and Friday, Nov. 1. There will be 3 p.m. matinees Sundays, Nov. 2 and 9; and Saturday, Nov. 8 (so there are two performances this date). General admission tickets will be available at the door for $10, $8 senior citizens and students. For more information, check out Winterport Open Stage’s Facebook page. Tickets also are available in advance at brownpapertickets.com (which will refund tickets for the show-canceled Nov. 2 show).
