A late morning fire destroyed a vehicle at a Back Belmont Road residence in Belfast Nov. 3.

The fire was reported shortly after 11 a.m. at 110 Back Belmont Road when a Chevrolet TrailBlazer caught fire, Belfast Police Officer Lewis Dyer said.

The owner of the vehicle, Gary Guindon, told Dyer he was having the vehicle pulled out of the driveway. The vehicle had only been running for a few minutes when Guindon noticed smoke coming from under the hood.

Guindon was able to get out of the vehicle before it ignited. Dyer said the fire destroyed the engine compartment and the interior of the vehicle.

The vehicle was insured, Dyer said.

Dyer said Belfast firefighters had the blaze mostly extinguished by the time he arrived on scene. No injuries were reported.
