Two Waldo County schools have been awarded funding for classroom projects through U.S. Cellular's Calling All Teachers program.

Captain Albert Stevens Elementary School in Belfast and Leroy H. Smith Elementary School in Winterport received a combined total of $1,343.43, which is anticipated to benefit more than 180 students.

Statewide the Calling All Teachers’ donation of $61,639.98 supports 105 teachers, benefiting more than 5,730 students. Projects funded throughout Maine include classroom reading rugs, reading materials, iPads, building materials for making a bridge, and equipment for a cooking class, among many other great projects. More than 40 percent of funded projects included a technological aspect such as iPads and tablets.

This is the company’s fourth time working with philanthropic website and this year funded $1 million in impactful and engaging classroom projects submitted by public school teachers.
