Everyone is invited to take a break from Maine’s cold winter and step into the tropical rainforest with Searsport Elementary and Middle schools’ production of “The Jungle Book.”

This shorter adaptation, written and directed by Jessica Fuller, is aimed at audiences of all ages and includes the easily recognizable Disney lyrics and music written and arranged by Terry Gilkyson, Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. Performances will be Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21, at 6 p.m.; and a matinee performance Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m. in the cafetorium of Searsport District Middle/High School, 24 Mortland Road. Tickets are $5 at the door; contact Fuller at jfuller@rsu20.org in advance to secure the family rate.

More than 40 students from the elementary and middle school have worked on putting the production together over the last three months, and actors from the high school also will be making cameos throughout the performances.
