Carver Memorial Library announces three new additions to its children’s collection: Library Backpacks. The backpacks are based on popular themes — "Dinosaurs!," "Space" and "Greek Myths." Each backpack contains books, games, DVDs and activities and can be checked out of the Children's Room for two weeks.

The dinosaur-themed backpack offers a variety of books and card games, as well as an entertaining DVD, "When Dinosaurs Ruled." There are three toy dinosaurs to play with and identify; and coloring pages, stencils, stickers, a word search and a crossword puzzle.

Books including "Mousetronaut" by real-life Astronaut Mark Kelly are included in the space-themed backpack, along with card and board games, "Big Space Shuttle" on DVD, and a special craft project to make and keep, as well as coloring pages and other activities.

Greek Myths features two games — Zeus on the Loose and Troy Extra Muros as well as books about Greek mythology and the Disney DVD "Hercules." In addition to coloring pages and activities, kids can make and keep a model Trojan Horse.

All backpacks include a blank book, too — children may write and illustrate their own stories to keep.
