Waldo County General Hospital’s Journey to Health program is holding two healthy cooking classes during June.

The Happy Snacking cooking class will be offered Monday, June 15, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Troy Howard Middle School. Participants will learn to make and then sample:


  • Fruit-based smoothies

  • Lettuce rolls with three different fillings

  • Three different Greek yogurt dips for fruits and vegetables

The second class, Cooking with Vegetables, will be held Monday, June 22, at 5:30 p.m. In this class, participants will prepare and then sample:


  • Roasted asparagus

  • Steamed artichokes

  • Veggie-loaded tomato sauce with ground turkey over whole wheat noodles or zucchini noddles

The cost for each class is $15. The leaders for the classes will be health educator Hester Kohl and personal trainer Mirja Pitkin.
