Potter Jody Johnstone will hold her Spring Kiln Opening show and sale Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at her studio at 135 Webster Road. There will be kiln tours and refreshments.

Last summer, Johnstone rebuilt her 24-foot-long anagama tunnel kiln with the help of master kiln builder Donovan Palmquist and his crew. The original kiln was torn down and the new kiln was rebuilt to Johnstone’s specifications on the footprint of the original kiln. Palmquist has built more than 350 kilns for schools, individual artists and institutions around the country. He made a presentation on Johnstone’s kiln at the second European Wood Fire Conference in Guldagergaard, Denmark last August.

On display for the weekend will be a large selection of work from the new kiln including tableware ranging from bowls, cups and plates to pitchers and teapots, plus a wide selection of flower vases and jars. For directions or more information, visit jodyjohnstonepottery.com or call 338-5314.
