Maine’s seven newest police canine teams graduate from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Friday. The teams come from State Police, Bangor Police and Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

The event took place at 10 a.m. The teams have spent the past 14 weeks training in various parts of the state under a number of different scenarios and weather conditions.

The new canine teams are State Police Sgt. Scott Dalton and K-9 Haro, principal K-9 State Police trainer; Bangor Police Officer Jamie Fanning and  K-9 Aki; State Police Trooper Andrew Levesque and K-9 Vitz, Troop F; State Police Trooper Barry Meserve and K-9 Doyle, Troop E; Waldo County Sheriff's Office Deputy Merl Reed and K-9 Frankie; State Police Trooper Adam Schmidt and K-9 Ibo, Troop A; and State Police Trooper Jeff Taylor and K-9 Oscar, Troop J.
