What do a schooner cruise, a commissioned portrait of your home, a weekend in Myrtle Beach, a raw food culinary class and private theater showing all have in common? These experiences (and 30 some-odd more) are all available to the highest bidder at the Our Town Belfast Auction and Gala Thursday, July 2, at Belfast Boathouse.

“Our annual auction is such a perfect mate to our mission," said Town Belfast Executive Director Breanna Pinkham Bebb. "It celebrates the best Belfast has to offer and honors the authentic experience of living, working and playing in this community. Be the highest bidder on a handful of items and you’ll have the perfect Belfast summer ready to go.”

Summer fun on the Our Town auction list includes such items as ice cream parties for 10, a two-hour cruise with Front Street Shipyard president J.B. Turner on "Rubba Dubba," a chance to spend two nights on the "Steely Ann" houseboat at Front Street Shipyard, flower picking at Chase's Daily's farm, a day at the Northport Golf Club, and more.

Admission is $15, in advance or at the door, which includes a bidding paddle, refreshments by Trillium Caterers and Marshall Wharf Brewing Company, and live music by pianist Lincoln Blake during the silent auction and gala. The silent auction will begin at 7 p.m. and when the live auction kicks off at 8 p.m., City Councilor and Eric Sanders will take the podium as auctioneer.

Auction chairman and Our Town board president Marjie Byers says, “Eric’s sense of humor definitely amps up the fun factor of our auction.”

The auction committee recommends fun and fancy attire of varying interpretations (ranging from your least torn Carhartts to your best string of pearls) and there will be a prize for “best dressed” auction attendee.

Belfast’s free “Summer Nights” outdoor concert series will be held nearby at the Belfast Common immediately prior to the auction.

A list of available items and experiences can be found at ourtownbelfast.org. Ticket purchase in advance is recommended, as last year’s auction was a sell-out event, and tickets are available at ourtownauction.brownpapertickets.com.

This event is sponsored by Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce, French & Webb, Ociepka & Burnett PA, ReVision Energy and Whitecap Builders. Major in-kind support is provided by Trillium Caterers, Marshall Wharf Brewing Company, and WERU Community Radio. For more information, call 218-1158 or email info@ourtownbelfast.org.
