Farm Credit East is accepting digital photo entries for its annual calendar contest through July 31. Winning photos will be featured in Farm Credit East's 2016 calendar and also on its website. From all entries, 14 photographs will be selected for a $100 prize each. The judges look for fresh imagery that illustrates life in the country today, said Kristie Schmitt, director of marketing and communications.

“We look for photos representing Northeast farming, horticulture, forestry and commercial fishing during every season, as well as shots that celebrate rural life in New England, New York or New Jersey,” she said.

Since the photo calendar contest was launched in 2006, the number of entries has grown steadily. Last year, Farm Credit East received more than 500 shots of country life from dozens of talented photographers. Only digital shots are accepted. Contest rules and an entry form, as well as photos from last year's calendar, can be found online at

Farm Credit East extends more than $5.8 billion in loans and has 21 local offices in its seven-state service area. In addition to loans and leases, the organization also offers a full range of agriculturally specific financial services for businesses related to farming, horticulture, forestry and commercial fishing.
