A special exhibit of hand-woven rag rugs will be on display Sunday, July 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lincolnville Fine Art Gallery, Route 1 across from Lincolnville Beach.

The rugs are the work of Wally O'Brien of Sleepy Hollow Rag Rugs, also in Lincolnville. O'Brien, who has been weaving for the past 16 years, works on a 200-year-old loom, using cloth he cuts from clothing, sheets, tablecloths, sewing scraps and other cotton or wool items.

Gallery owner Dwight Wass invites the public to come by on Sunday to see the colorful variety of rugs produced on the old loom.
