Classic Comedies for Midsummer Nights is the theme for July at the Belfast Free Library’s Friday Night Flix film series. All the movies are free and screened at 7 p.m. in the air-conditioned Abbott Room of the library, 106 High St.

The July 10th film offers up “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask)” (1977, USA). Got questions? Allen’s got answers in a series of over-the-top comedy sketches. Among them are: “Do Aphrodisiacs Work?” “What is Sodomy?” and “Are Transvestites Homosexuals?” As with all Allen movies, there is an all-star cast that includes Gene Wilder, Tony Randall, Lynn Redgrave, John Carradine, Burt Reynolds and Regis Philbin.

Upcoming in the series are: July 17, “When Harry Met Sally” (1989, USA); July 24, “The Big Lebowski” (1998, USA); and July 31, “High Anxiety” (1977, USA).
