The Palermo Library, 2789 Route 3, will host a second evening in the Summer Jazz Concert Series featuring a performance by the Mai Kheet Band Monday, July 27, at 6:30 p.m. The free event begins with a 5:30 p.m. music workshop on jazz composition for kids of all ages, and light food/refreshments will be served prior to the concert.

The Mai Kheet Band will delight all ages with a spectrum of jazz-inspired compositions and arrangements. Hailed as a fresh, innovative and dynamic quartet, the band features Jesse Feinberg on piano, Duane Edwards on upright bass, Wayne DeLano on saxophone and Mai Kheet on drums.

Kheet is a Berklee College of Music graduate and has studied with master percussionists from around the world. His drumming blends jazz styles with other genres of soul, R&B, funk and world music. Kheet has performed throughout Maine including the Bar Harbor Jazz Festival, Bud Light Reggae Festival, the Maine Blues Festival, Common Ground Fair, WERU's Full Circle Fair and many other events in New England.

The Palermo Community Library received a generous grant from the Oak Grove Foundation to spread the understanding of jazz in the community. The third concert of the series is scheduled for Aug. 24 and will feature the jazz trio Oirteht.
