Arts in the Park last weekend brought crowds of locals and tourists to the waterfront to see works of area artists while enjoying a variety of music and food.

Presented by Friends of Belfast Parks at Heritage Park, this was the event's 20th year.

Arts in the Park featured 80 artists and artisans, including Artist of the Year Ron Cowan, who creates hand-carved garden muses.

Music groups included Belfast Bay Fiddlers, Aurora Jazz Project, Leaky Boot Jug Band, Dave & Fran Plus, People of Earth, and Downeast Brass, who closed the show.

Food vendors included Ye Olde Fish ‘n’ Chips, The Good Kettle, the Uproot Pie Co., Stone Fox Farm Creamery and the Game Loft.

Arts in the Park made its debut in City Park in 1995, but after two years organizers felt that Heritage Park, downtown on the waterfront, was a better venue, and it has been there ever since.

The event is organized by Friends of Belfast Parks as a fundraiser for the city’s parks. Over the years, many improvements have been made thanks to funds raised, including creation of Belfast’s Dog Park, according to organizers. For more information, visit artsintheparkbelfast.org.
