Coastal Mountains Land Trust and Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition will co-host a free, all-ages Family Insect Safari Friday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fernald’s Neck Preserve. Entomologist Karen Coluzzi from the Maine Deppartment of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, will lead an exploratory hands-on workshop for insect lovers of all ages.

Using her insect collection to give an introductory glimpse into the world of insects, Coluzzi will lead the group through the preserve and along Megunticook Lake in search of insects of all sorts. Terrain is gentle and easy, but participants should dress for an outdoor exploration.

No advance registration is necessary, and the walk will take place rain or shine. An adult caregiver must accompany children at all times. Dogs are not allowed within the preserve.
